Clément Layes

During his high school Clement Layes attended for three years professional circus school in Lyon.
After his high school graduation he studied art and philosophy at university of Lyon 2/3 (department philosophy and art history),
Studied dance at the CNR (conservatoire national de region), and CNSMD (Conservatoire National Superior de Musique et de Danse de Lyon). He finished his dance studies by performing in the “Jeune Ballet” of Cnsmd, in the choreographies from Yval Pick, Dominique Bagouet, Sophie Lessard etc.

After his graduation he worked with Boris Charmatz for one year on the research project “Bocal” on the topic of pedagogy. During this project he collaborated and studied among others with: Hubert Godard, Jean Luc Moulène, Vera Montero, Claude Espinassier, Steve Paxton, Joseph Nadj. He then started to study Feldenkrais methode. trick questions Since 2004 he worked with Odile Duboc “rien ne laisse présager de l’état de l’eau” , Trois Boleros.
Since 2003 he has been working as a choreographer, in the collective ALS (as, comme), and collective Tropa di troppo in Lyon. He choreographed two short pieces for the dance department of INSA de Lyon, and created a 20 min work “allégé (glass, verre)” in 2007, which was presented at the choreographic centre of Maguy Marin (Rilleux la Pape), and Le Croiseur in Lyon.

He assisted Jasna Vinovrški (Berlin/ Freiburg) in her last creations (2006-2008) “Which club” and “Temporary ex/ Catch 22” which toured in Germany, Spain, Check Republic, Italia and France.They co-created the cie Public in private, based in Berlin, and produced “Under construction” and “Allege” presented in various theater and festival in Europe.
